This year, the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of Australia is bringing some much-needed Christmas cheer direct from Greece to Melbourne by way of a specially produced ‘Kalanda’ program. The special event will be recorded in the festively vibrant Omonia Square and feature the critically acclaimed Spyros Lambrou Children’s Choir. The joyous program will be produced by renowned composer Tassos Ioannides.

The special Kalanda event will be presented under the auspices of the City of Athens and will include a personal message from Athens Mayor Kostas Bakoyannis.

The program will comprise traditional and contemporary Christmas carols, performed both in Greek and English. It will be an event for all the family to enjoy.

The event will take place at the Monastery of Axion Estin in Northcote at 6.30pm Thursday 23 December and will be launched by His Eminence Archbishop Makarios. The program will be simultaneously streamed through the Archdiocese social media platforms.

For those wishing to attend the special outdoor event, entrance will be free and there will be food and beverages available as well as a number of festive themed stalls to explore.
