The series of 1821 commemorative stamps available to purchase in Australia on the occasion of the bicentenary of the Greek War of Independence,
has been made using a personalised stamps service.

The above clarification was communicated to Neos Kosmos, in a message seeking to prevent any misunderstanding that the series is an “official Australia Post stamp release”.

The message, pictured below, was sent by Australia Post to NK in response to a tweet about the commemorative stamp series.

As per the announcement of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of Australia circulated in late 2021, the series comprises of four stamps depicting Greek Orthodox church figures who contributed to Greek independence from Ottoman rule: Patriarch Gregory V, ethnomartyr and saint of the Orthodox Church; Metopolitan Palaion Patron Germanos, Bishop Isaiah of Salona; and Archimandrite Grigorios Dikaios-Flessas (Papaflessas).

The portraits featured on the stamps were created by artist Angela Konstantinopoulos.
