Pegasus Dance Academy specialises in traditional Greek dance which dates back over 2,500 years. Classes are offered for students from five years’ old and upwards with no more than 20 people per class.

Sotiris Sotiriou, who formed the company in 1988, has gone to great lengths to maintain the authenticity of dances, so much so that he and two other dancers from the Pegasus Dance Academy were honoured to be involved in the opening ceremony of the Sydney Olympic Games in 2000. Mr Sotiriou has attended Greek dance conferences in Greece in 1991, 1994, 1996 and 1997 and even brought one of the Greek professors to Australia in 1997.

There are well over 200 different types of Greek dances as they vary from one region to another and the school can teach the dance style based on each region.
The school does not modernise these dances, but preserves them for future generations to enjoy in the way they were created.

Taking part in the classes is a great way for people to tune into their heritage, enjoy the physical benefits of dance and also meet people in a social atmosphere.
