We are at the turning point of Greek Language Education in Australia, at a time when the pandemic has impacted on all students.

However, this is a crucial time when parents need to decide whether their child will begin or continue attending Greek school in an unprecedented hybrid-class environment. Why learn the Greek language and where would they learn it better and properly in this evolutionary era that we are living in?

Zenon Greek School has had many outstanding accomplishments in student education over the last few years that encompass not only language, but also cultural activities with traditional dancing and drama classes where students learn to express themselves and be proud of their inheritance.

Zenon Greek School is continuing to offer students a dedicated, dynamic environment in which Greek language and culture are vibrantly taught in each lesson. Dance, theatre, Greek history, customs, and traditions are part of the school experience for children who are keen to learn, make friends and come close to their roots.

Zenon’s aim is to nurture students with Greek ideals and ensure that they are taught holistically with modern approaches and ideas that reflect and fulfill the needs of today’s children and youth. The program begins from Kinder and continues right through to Senior High school. There are no limits to language learning as students are enabled to reach their full potential at the highest possible level.

“The children of 2022 need no pressure to succeed in learning. They need to be given opportunities and love. This love is offered byZenon’s dedicated staff every moment that the students are present in the school grounds”, said the School Principal, Mrs Andrea Garivaldis.

This year, Zenon welcomes renowned professional Greek dance instructor Sotiris Sotiriou, who is taking up the dance program andis ready to teach the students the famous traditional dances and help them to enhance their bonds with Greece and Cyprus even more.

“The role of Greek school is changing in 2022 and with this we are changing too. We are adapting to the new reality of our community and the constantly evolving conditions. We are looking into the future with optimism, and we are ready to embrace our students with understanding, offering them the opportunities they need to enjoy learning Greek and feel a stronger sense of their bilingual identity,” Mrs Garivaldis said.
