As the world is opening up to Australian travellers, many have started booking those overdue overseas holidays, especially for those who have family and loved ones abroad, that they haven’t seen for over two years.

Speaking to Greek Australians, many are counting down the days to the moment they will get on that flight to travel back to the motherland.

A few months ago when airfares of flights connecting Australia to the rest of the world skyrocketed due to restricted capacity and limited routes, people’s main concern was whether they would even be able to afford to travel again.

It seems though that as travel restrictions ease, airlines are adding routes, preparing to compete, and offering some great benefits in order to rebuild confidence in travel in and out of Australia after the pandemic ‘pause’.

One of the airlines that has launched a sale to celebrate Australia’s ‘reopening’, is Qatar, an airline that continued to connect to Australia, with a few flights a week throughout the pandemic.

The sale is on until Monday the 21st of February, for anyone who wishes to travel by 31 October, with flights to Europe starting from $1,289.

The airline is offering guaranteed flexibility on bookings until 30 September 2022, including unlimited date changes and ticket refunds, so travellers can plan ahead knowing they are covered.

Fares start from $1,449 return to Athens from Melbourne, $1,539 return from Sydney to Rome. Passengers can fly from Brisbane to Barcelona from just $1,579 return, and from Sydney to Istanbul from $1,329 return.

Qatar Airways’ customers also have the opportunity to turn one holiday into two on a ‘Qatar Stopover’ with many nationalities being offered visa-free entry into the country, and heavily discounted luxurious hotel stays.

In addition, Qatar Airways Holidays is offering travellers AUD 200 off the total package value when booking flights with a hotel stay, by simply using the code QRH200 during check out.
