The 2022 Ladies’ Luncheon of the AHEPA Victoria’s Unit ATHENA No 2 was held on Sunday 15 May 2022 at the Merrimu Ballroom in Murrumbeena raising funds for the Royal Women’s Hospital (RWH).

The Master of Ceremonies, Mrs Mary Mitrakas, announced that to mark the 80th anniversary of AHEPA Victoria this year, a special anniversary event is planned for November 2022.

Over 250 people attended and enjoyed the excellent food and services of the venue. The total amount raised of $20,000 will enable the purchase of an ultrasound machine.

In her welcome address, the President of the ATHENA Unit No. 2, Mrs Mary Calombaris, after thanking the attendees warmly, explained how the Royal Women’s Hospital is a leader in women’s and newborn baby’s healthcare, and how important it is for the community to support its work.

The representative of RWH who attended the event, Mr. Jason Smith, Executive Director, Philanthropy and Community Investment, in his address explained the tremendous work of the hospital and expressed the warmest thanks from the hospital’s management, employees, and patients for the significant donation of AHEPA’s Unit Athena 2. “I hope that such events will set an example for similar initiatives throughout the wider community”, said Mr Smith.

Mrs Calombaris thanked the members of the AHEPA Unit ATHENA No 2 for their efforts to make the event a success, and especially, Mrs Mary Mitrakas (Master of Ceremonies),

Paola Raftopoulou (Secretary) and Marlene Varvara (Treasurer), as well as the other members of the Unit’s Council, Sophie Mercoulias, Cathie Perry, Anastasia Lupos, Maria Kavouris and all the volunteers for their tireless work.
