George Kambosos Jr is just days away from defending his international titles against American Davin Haney in front of his Aussie fans in Melbourne on 5 June at Marvel Stadium.

Haney said he’s going to put some “hurt” on the Spartan unified lightweight champion in the first of a two-fight contract they have agreed to.

The Greek Australian responded with a short tweet that said: “11 Days….Ready For A Fight, Ready For A War, Ready For Victory 🏆”. Kambosos Jr also shared a documentary of himself put together by Sportingnewsau before receiving a blessing from a Greek Orthodox Priest at the training gym.

Kambosos Jr who is a proud Greek-Australian has always been open about his strong faith and being a “god and family man”.

In an another post, Kambosos Jr found a video from Haney and his father watching his win over Teofimo Lopez back in November 2021 where they were excitedly supporting Australia and Kambosos Jr against their fellow American Lopez.

Haney on the other hand told Fighthype that he “will come out victorious, and we’ve been training hard. I know that I’m the better fighter. There’s nothing he can do to beat me, and I will show it on June 5th. Of course, I want to hurt him. He can be as fast as he wants on the pads, fast as he wants on the bags, but it’s different when you’re in there with Devin Haney… Anybody can be fast when they’re telling you to do the combinations or when a bag is right there in front of you, and it’s not punching back. It’s different when you’re in there with Devin Haney.

“I don’t care how fast you are. If you have timing, you can stop that speed,” he said while stressing he is confident he can take down Kambosos Jr.

“He’s tricky when he keeps his left-hand low, so you have to be mindful of that. He has his hand low for a reason. There are things that I look to exploit when I’m in the ring. That’s what true champions are made of. You’ve got to be able to make adjustments in there,” Haney concluded.

Many MMA commentators believe that Devin Haney is the “full package” and the “next lightweight champion” but the fact his father and trainer have not been allowed into the country due to a previous drug conviction might cost him, according to predictions on Fox Sports.
