The Aristotle Medical Forum at the inaugural International Hellenic Medical Society (HMS) Conference in Thessaloniki, Greece July 15-17 is hosting leading medical practitioners and scientists from across the world.

Dr Magdalena Simonis, one of Australia’s leading GP advocates for women’s health is representing doctors from the Australian Hellenic Diaspora and Prof. Vasso Apostolopoulos, one of the world’s leading virologists, is representing medical science.

“We have been warmly welcomed; and Greek national media is tracking the event,” Dr Simonis told Neos Kosmos.

“It is fabulous and we should be really proud of this effort and collaboration – bringing Hellenic doctors and Medical Scientists of the diaspora is a way of connecting us with our roots and making new friends who speak English and Greek. Sending kids to Greek school makes even more sense.
It’s literally all paying off for us now.”

Over 220 speakers and over 22 Hellenic medical societies abroad from the US, Canada, Australia, UK and more are there. They are hosted by the Medical School of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and its president, Dr. Kyriakos Anastasiades, under the auspices of the General Secretariat of Hellenes Abroad and Public Diplomacy of the Hellenic Ministry of Foreign Affairs and its general secretary Professor John Chrysoulakis.

A statement from the conference organisers said that conference moderators and speakers are producing cutting-edge abstracts for presentation on the latest developments in medicine, surgery and biomedical research.
