Greece’s national football team marked its fifth win earlier today in the UEFA Nations League with a 3-1 win over Northern Ireland at the Georgios Kamaras Stadium in Athens.

The white and blue warriors were cheered by over 10,000 fans who saw them jump from the top of the League C group to League B.

Greece finished this edition of the Nations League with a total of 10 goals and keeping a clean sheet for four of its six games even though it lost unexpectedly 1-0 to Cyprus three days ago.

With Cyprus losing in Kosovo 5-1 it meant Northern Ireland avoided having to face a Group C relegation play-off.

A goalkeeping error from Bailey Peacock-Farrell allowed Greece’s gun Dimitris Pelkas an early opener with a 14th-minute header giving Greece a 1-0 lead, but Shayne Lavery equalised three minutes later securing Northern Ireland a 1-1 half-time result.

Giorgos Masouras with help from Anastasios Bakasetas, slotted home 10 minutes into the second laf, to restore Greece’s advantage and Petros Mantalos got the third through the net with an impeccable long-range shot.
