The top study scores for Victorian VCE students were made public by the Victorian Curriculum and Assessment Authority this morning, with those achieving a mark of 40 or higher recognised for their outstanding achievement.
Schools across the state are praising their pupils for their hard efforts in their two final years of study, especially in light of the past three years of interruptions.
St. John’s College has named Maria Anastassopoulos as its 2022 Dux, receiving the highest ATAR among her peers.
The school’s Director of Administration, Kathryn Drougas told Neos Kosmos, “We are delighted that 22% of our students were ranked in the top 20% of the state, gaining an ATAR of 80 or above. This year 50% of our students received an exemplary study score of 45 or above in Modern Greek.”
“St John’s continued focus on academic success, personal and spiritual growth as well as resilience, and our student’s engagement in their learning has led to these outstanding results. The College Board and staff are very proud of their academic achievements and wish them every success for the future.”

Alphington Grammar School announced Zoe Tonkin as its Dux with an ATAR of 98.7, placing her in the top two per cent of graduates this year.
She received study scores above 40 in Chemistry, Physics and Maths Methods as well as a 45 in Psychology and a 47 in English.
Zoe plans on studying a double degree in Commerce and Engineering at Monash University, where her candidacy for a scholarship aimed at women in STEM has been warmly received.
School Valedictorian Thomas Brady was named Dux Proximus with an ATAR of 97.9 and Study Scores above 40 in Further Maths, English, Biology and Chemistry.
Alphington Grammar Principal Dr. Vivianne Nikou said, “The determination of our students this year to persevere and support each other through challenges says much about the character of these young men and women as they move into the next stage of their lives.”
51% of Alphington Grammar School’s Class of 2022 achieved an ATAR over 80, placing them in the top 20% of the state, and 82% received an ATAR over 70. The graduating class has an overall median study score of 32 and an average ATAR of 78, which well exceeds the state average.
Eleni Megas, a year 11 student at Huntingtower School in Melbourne’s South-East has achieved a perfect study score of 50 in Further Mathematics, which she selected as her accelerated VCE subject.
She attributed her success to “hard work, a positive mindset and an encouraging environment.”
Athan Vass from Penleigh & Essendon Grammar School has achieved an ATAR of 97.6, receiving study scores of 42, 44 and 46 for Accounting, English and Economics respectively.

He hopes to pursue a double degree in Commerce and Computer Science, setting his sights on an MBA and career in politics for the future.
