Greece’s premier psych rock, heavy, stoner rockers, 1000Mods, who were scheduled to tour Australia and New Zealand announced on Facebook that they must postpone. They were to play Wollongong, Sydney, Gold Coast, Brisbane, Adelaide, and Melbourne.

On their post they wrote, “we are super bummed to announce that we have to postpone our upcoming Australia – New Zealand Tour.”

According to the post, their John [Giannis] is facing some “health issues, that don’t allow him” to perform.

“He needs to recover and get back stronger.”

The band wrote that they are “working with our booking agency to reschedule and find new dates as soon as possible.”

They thanked all those who bought tickets and asked them to “hold on” to their tickets, as “they will be valid for the new dates.”

1000mods, one of Greece’s most respected psych-rock, heavy, stoner bands were scheduled to tour with their latest LP, Youth of Dissent, and were to play from their seminal Blank Reality and Repeated Exposure.

The tour was to be their first world tour after the Covid19 lockdowns of 2020 and 2021.

1000mods are from Chiliomodi, Greece, and consist of Dani G. (vocals and bass), Giannis S. (guitar), Giorgos T. (guitar), and Labros G. (drums). The name of the group is a pun linked to the village in which they were formed, as “a thousand” is pronounced “chillia” in Greek.

The band formed in 2006 and released EPs Blank Reality in 2007 and Liquid Sleep in 2009 – now anthemic classics in the world of psych-rock.

In 2010, they produced their first album Super Van Vacation with Billy Anderson from Sleep and Neurosis. They then hit the road with 40 shows across European tour in festivals such as Rockwave Festival, Desertfest and Lake on Fire.

Their third album Repeated Exposure To… was engineered at Wreck It Sound Studios in Corinth, Greece and mastered by Brad Boatright of Sleep, Toxic Holocaust fame, at Audiosiege Studios, Portland, Oregon.

In 2018, 1000mods visited the United States, Canada and Mexico and then Australia, for 29 shows. They have developed a significant following in the stoner and psych-rock scene across the world.
