Two Greek owned Melbourne businesses will be recognised for their years of service in this year’s Lord Mayor’s Small Business Awards.

Carlton Yacht Club Bar, owned by Andrew Leonedas and Top Image Jewellery, run by Jenny Hagidimou, have both been selected as recipients for the 20-plus years award.

Every year, the Lord Mayor’s Small Business Awards acknowledge and celebrate Melbourne’s longstanding independent small businesses, and the people who run them.

It is a way to say thank you for the significant contribution these businesses have to the city’s culture, economy and liveability.

The awards honour the achievements of small businesses who have been operating in the City of Melbourne for milestones of 10, 20 and 40-plus years and recognise outstanding organisations in the Small Business of the Year award and the Lord Mayor’s Small Business Innovation award.

Located on Lygon Street, the Carlton Yacht Club opened in 2002 and is now a staple of the area, catering to all, from transient tourists from around the country and overseas to locals, students and hospitality neighbours.

The specialist cocktail bar finds itself in an area known for its Italian restaurants and cafes, so it sets itself out from the pack for its uniqueness.

Leonedas previously owned the now defunct Trumpy Bar in Thornbury and the Blue Diamond Club.

Top Image Jewellery CEO Jenny Hagidimou has over 25 years of jewellery making experience.

Located on Little Collins St in the city’s CBD, a selling point of her business is that she offers lifetime guarantee on workmanship and a life-long cleaning and polishing service to all her clients.

Hagidimou’s business offers wedding, eternity and engagement rings, earrings, bracelets, necklaces and religious pieces for christenings.

Top Image Jewellery is an award winning business having been voted Best Leading Melbourne jeweller on several occasions and has been highly commended in the Wedding Industry Awards.

Both businesses and respective owners will receive their 20-plus year awards on August 23.
