The Greek Community of Melbourne presents an online seminar focused on the health benefits of traditional dance as part of the Greek History and Culture Seminars series.

On Thursday, July 27 at 7 pm, Dr Maria Bougiesis will delve into studies revealing its significance as an alternative form of exercise and a source of well-being.

In recent years, research has increasingly focused on the impact of dance on quality of life and health. Greek traditional dance, deeply rooted in Greek culture and folk traditions, has emerged as a compelling physical activity, particularly benefiting older adults in terms of gait balance, cognitive function, stress management, and emotional well-being.

For Greeks living abroad in the diaspora, this dance form remains an essential means of connecting with their heritage and embracing their identity.
