The Greek Community of Melbourne (GCM) will run a school holiday program around the Greek mythology theme. The program titled ‘1 Hero, 2 Gods, 3 Myths’ runs between September 19 and 26.
Heroes, gods, and mythical creatures have been a source of wonder and inspiration for generations of Greeks and non-Greeks. The storytelling event aims to transport young minds to the ancient world of Greece, where the magic of these mythical stories comes to life.
The program blends education, drama, imagination, and, most importantly, fun. Each session will take children aged 4 to 10 on a journey to a different story from our rich Greek mythology. From the adventures of Theseus to the heart-wrenching story of Demeter and Persephone and the ever-watchful Sun, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.
The event offers the opportunity to meet Syrmo Kapoutsi, the author who retold these captivating stories through her books of ‘Theseus’ and ‘Twelve Gods of Olympus’.
This is an opportunity for the young to gain insights into the world of Greek mythology and connect with the storyteller herself and their enduring culture.
With interactive activities and immersive storytelling, it promises to be a memorable experience for kids.
This is an ideal event for children, offering an exploration into the realms of Greek mythology. It is an opportunity to engage with our ancient tales and spark the Greek flame in the hearts of the youngest members of our community.
