Tony Nikolakopoulos and George Kapiniaris are joining forces once more to present the premiere of ‘The Life of Byron’, a tribute to the extraordinary lives of a generation of migrants who played a vital role in shaping Australia into what it is today, with a twist.

Building on the success of their nationwide two-year tour with their previous project, ‘The Last Proxy’ the dynamic Greek-Australian duo, in collaboration with acclaimed writer Sally Faraday are bringing the new fruits of their labour to the stage.

Nikolakopoulos and Kapiniaris are also co-directing with award-winning actor, writer and director of the stage and screen Maria Theodorakis.

Theodorakis is an AACTA (AFI) and FCC Best Actress winner in a Feature Film Award for her starring role in Walking on Water. A multiple Green Room nominee, she has performed in theatre for companies including MTC, Malthouse, Belvoir St, and Melbourne Workers Theatre.

Running from October 11 to 22 at the Alex Theatre in Melbourne and from 31 October to 12 November at The Fuse Box in Sydney, ‘The Life of Byron’ explores themes of family, the challenges of love, responsibility, and the journey to adulthood.

Audiences will be taken on a journey through the eyes of one man who grapples with one of the most significant decisions of his life, shaped by the choices, mistakes, and influences that have brought him to this pivotal moment.

At the heart of the story is Byron, whose mother is in the early stages of dementia. His sister, Alex, believes that selling their family home and placing their mother in a nursing home is the best course of action.

Now, Byron faces a monumental choice: Will he send his mother away, muster the strength to care for her himself, or seize the remaining time with her to uncover her mysteries and, perhaps, find his own path to maturity in the process?

Kapiniaris, one of Australia’s most popular ethnic comedy, music and TV stars over the last thirty five years will bring him to life.
