A 65-year-old grandmother, Minnie Votsis, was left with serious injuries after what appears to be a deliberate car collision in a Melbourne carpark located in the inner suburbs. The incident unfolded in Ascot Vale on Epsom Road, where Votsis was driving her Holden Captiva.
The unsettling episode took place last week when a man behind the wheel of a white Hyundai Getz allegedly crashed into Votsis’ car, 9News reported.
After the collision, both drivers stepped out of their vehicles to exchange details as is customary in such situations.
However, the incident took a sinister turn when the male driver, whose identity remains undisclosed, reportedly refused to hand over his driver’s license, according to Votsis’ son, David.
Security cameras at the scene captured the entire incident, adding a layer of evidence to the investigation.
Subsequently, the male driver, rather than cooperating with authorities, returned to his Hyundai Getz and reversed his vehicle into Votsis before fleeing the scene, leaving her seriously injured and in shock.
Describing the sequence of events, David Votsis stated, “When she turned around, she tried to call the police, and he (allegedly) hit her as he got back into his car. It’s horrible. The fact that he was able to do it and just drive away from it just terrifies us all.”
The investigation has revealed that it is believed the man deliberately reversed into Votsis, a revelation that has sent shockwaves through the community. The incident unfolded in front of numerous shoppers, including Rezz Kimies, who described the scene as deeply distressing. He recounted, “She dropped to the floor; it was very bad.”
