Greece’s coastguard on Tuesday said a migrant had died and another 37 had been rescued in the second deadly boat incident in two days.
A coastguard spokeswoman said the group had alerted authorities that their dinghy was taking on water near the island of Lesbos.
One person was found unconscious during the rescue, and was later pronounced dead in hospital.
“It could be exposure to cold. The autopsy will show the cause of death,” she told AFP.
Early Monday, the coastguard found three bodies during a search for survivors after a migrant boat sank off the eastern Greek island of Symi.
Another eight people were rescued, and two others made it to land safely on their own.
Tens of thousands of migrants, mostly from Syria, Afghanistan and Pakistan, have entered Greece in recent years from the sea and land borders with Turkey.
Enforcing a strict migration policy, Greece has stepped up patrols in the Aegean Sea between Greece and Turkey with the help of the European Border Surveillance Agency, Frontex.
In June, a dilapidated boat capsized and sank off Pylos in the Peloponnese, drowning 82 people, while hundreds were reported missing.
Last month, 40 of the survivors filed a group lawsuit against Greek authorities for failing to take appropriate action before the boat sank.
