With the participation of numerous Greek-Australians, the “Dances of the Greeks” event was presented as part of the “Dimitria 2023” Festival organised by the Pan-Macedonian Association of Melbourne and Victoria.
The initiative took place last Sunday, November 19, at Alphington Grammar School and featured six dance groups from our Community which were:

Omiros College-Greek Language and Cultural School, Pegasus Dance Academy, Cretan Brotherhood of Melbourne and Victoria, Greek Community of Melbourne (GCM), Akrites Australia (Ακρίτες του Πόντου) and Florina Atristotelis Dance Group.
The event was presented by Panagiotis Stefanidis and featured music from Yiannis Kostarakis and his “Dimotiki” orchestra which included musicians from Greece.

It was attended by the Most Reverend Bishop of Kerasauntos, Mr Evmenios, the GCM President, Mr Bill Papastergiadis, and Member of the Victorian Legislative Assembly, Kat Theophanous, who congratulated the Pan-Macedonian Association for its efforts.

Among the guests were also members of the GCM Executive, Nick Koukoubitakis and Michael Karamitos, Alphington Grammar School Principal Dr Vivianne Nikou.

The General Secretary of the Pan-Macedonian Association, Mr Nick Lalopoulos, welcomed everyone while at the end of the event, the organisation’s president Dimitri Minas thanked all for their support.
