Yorgos Lanthimos’ latest cinematic creation, ‘Poor Things’, is poised to vie for the prestigious title of Best Picture at the upcoming 96th Academy Awards [Oscars], alongside formidable contenders like Oppenheimer and Barbie.

The roster of Best Picture nominees for the Oscars encompasses a diverse array of films, including ‘Killers of the Flower Moon’, ‘The Holdovers’, ‘Maestro’, and ‘American Fiction’.

Lanthimos’ internationally-produced film, featuring Emma Stone in a captivating role as a resurrected woman, has earned an impressive 11 nominations. It trails just behind the leading film, ‘Oppenheimer’, which boasts a remarkable 13 nominations, acknowledging standout performances by Cillian Murphy, Emily Blunt, and Robert Downey Jr.

‘Poor Things’ has clinched nominations for Best Picture, with Lanthimos himself earning a nod for Best Director.

Emma Stone is recognised in the Best Actress category, while Mark Ruffalo garners a nomination for Best Supporting Actor.

The film is also a contender in multiple technical categories, including Best Cinematography (Robbie Ryan), Best Production Design (James Price, Heath, Zsuzsa Mikalek), Best Film Editing (Yorgos Mavropsaridis), Best Costume Design (Holly Waddington), Best Makeup and Hair (Nadia Stacey, Mark Coulier, Josh Weston), and Best Original Score (Jerskin Fendrix).
