One of the most highly-praised performances staged by the National Theatre of Greece, “Goodbye, Lindita,” returns in 2024 directed by the acclaimed Mario Banousis at the Rex Theatre, on the “Eleni Papadaki” Stage, from March 13 to April 20.

This iteration of the play has been singled out by critics, received rave review by the audience, and has been distinguished at international festivals, According an official announcement of the National Theatre, it will also be staged in Adelaide in 2024.

‘Goodbye, Lindita’ focuses on a primal human experience, that of losing a loved one.

In a house, a mourning family is immersed in silence until a series of paradoxical events opens a window to a world where memory intertwines with fantasy, and reality merges with dreams.

Mario Banousis, a versatile young creator proposing a personal, handmade visual theatrical universe, draws inspiration from his own experiences and funeral customs and traditions of the Balkans to create, along with a group of talented artists, a scenic poem about loss.

The cast includes actors Chrysi Vidalaki, Babis Galiatsatos, Eleni Abia Nzanga, Erifili Kitzoglou, Katerina Kristo, Mario Banousis, Eftychia Stefanou, and Alexandra Chasani.”

“Without ever hearing the faces speak, we witness their journey, an internal voyage trying to answer an eternal question: How do we say goodbye to a beloved person?” Banousis asks.

The play has been presented at the National Theatre in the past and current seasons, consistently marking sold-out performances.

The upcoming worldwide tour, includes stops in Belgrade, Dresden, Amsterdam, Adelaide, and Munich.
