The spine-chilling horror sensation ‘Talk to Me’, directed by brothers Danny and Michael Philippou, made a haunting mark at the AACTA Industry Awards, scooping up five prestigious awards on Thursday and another three awards on on Saturday at the main AACTA Awards ceremony.

Among the accolades secured by the Philippou brothers were the coveted titles of Best Direction, Best Film, Best Screenplay and Best Editing in film followed by Best Score and Best Makeup.

“Omg! 8 AACTA AWARDS Best Film, Best Direction, Screenplay, Sound, Editing, Lead Actress, Score and Makeup 🏆 INSANE! We had the BEST CREW IN THE WORLD! So over the moon and cannot wait to shoot the next one 🎬 love you all thanks so much for everything 😭❤️,” Danny Philippou wrote on Instagram.

Sophie Wilde, who plays the lonely teenager that gets haunted conjuring spirits through a ceramic hand in the film, was also recognised for her performance, winning Best Lead Actress.

Additionally, their Cannes-premiered thriller ‘The New Boy’ clinched two AACTA Industry Awards for Best Cinematography and Best Design in film.

While television successes such as ‘The Lost Flowers of Alice Hart’, ‘Deadloch’, and ‘The Australian Wars’ dominated the AACTA Industry Awards in the television categories, ‘The Newsreader’ emerged triumphant as the most nominated TV production of the year, securing the prestigious Best Direction in Drama or Comedy award.

Despite high expectations, hit comedies like ‘Colin From Accounts’ and the ABC drama series ‘Bay of Fires’ left the ceremony without awards.
