Greek Australian racer Aaron Zerefos has moved up a class for his campaign in the 2024 Hi-Tec Oils Bathurst 6 Hour.

Upgrading from Class C up to Class B1 (High Performance Forced Induction), Zerefos will now share the number 105 BMW 135i with NSW Production Touring Car Championship regulars John Fitzgerald and Brent Howard.

Bathurst is regarded as the pinnacle of Australian production racing and Zerefos has achieved class podium finishes in the endurance event two years in a row.

He now aims to continue this streak in the endurance race and bring home more silverware.

“I’m feeling good about the race – I’ve had plenty of laps this year, including the Bathurst 12 Hour where we had a drama-filled day in the Ginetta, but kept fighting,” Zerefos said in a media release.

“The BMW has been a consistent and reliable package since John debuted it in NSW Prod Touring last year, and it will be especially strong under brakes.”

It is expected that the Greek will be tasked with qualifying the car due to his experience and recent seat time in the 12 Hour.

“The plan will be to ensure John and Brent get plenty of time in the car during practice to dial themselves in, and then I’ll have a crack in qualifying,” Zerefos said.

“But our focus will very much be on race day Sunday, where the key will be for all of us to maintain a consistent pace, stay out of trouble and be there at the end.”

The Bathurst 6 Hour will be broadcast live on SBS, Fox Sports and Kayo on both Saturday March 30 and Sunday March 31 across Easter weekend.
