The Greek-Australian Society (GAS) is nearing the end of its application phase for this year’s Mentoring Program, which is continuing to expand to include people from across the country and overseas.
The deadline for applications to be part of the program this year officially closes at 5 pm on Friday 12 April, with any interested mentors and mentees who have not yet applied encouraged to do so.
This year marks the fourth successive year of the program which now boasts mentors from Sydney, Melbourne, Wollongong as well as from the United States and Greece.
The program, which is available to all GAS members, operates with the purpose of helping develop young Greek Australians still in the infancy of their professional careers.
Among the mentors for this year’s program are new additions such as Bill Papastergiadis OAM, President of the Greek Community of Melbourne, John Lazarou, Founder of Brisbane-based The Coffee Club, and Evangelos Pappas, Professor and Associate Dean at the University of Wollongong.
GAS Co-Founder and Mentoring Program Convenor, George Psihoyios, said “I am humbled to be introducing the 2024 Iteration of the Program, now in its fourth successive year of operation, and with a bigger and wider offering to our membership”.
GAS Acting President, Peter Dracakis, echoed this sentiment as he expressed his immense pride to deliver together with the board this year’s program, which is continuing to grow.
“While a selection of our mentors are returning, many are new, opening up an even wider array of opportunities for our members to develop, learn and advance their careers.
Mr Dracakis added his pleasure with the ongoing willingness and desire from their mentors to give back to the younger generations, stating it “never ceases to amaze”.
This year’s edition of the program is said to be in constant evolution, responding to feedback and suggestions from participants on optimising its delivery and quality.
Anyone interested in the program must be a GAS member and submit an application form and a high-resolution photo, along with a CV and a one-page cover letter, by 5 pm this Friday to the following email: mentoring@gas.org.au
The necessary form and further information on the program can be found at the society’s website.
