Some notable Greek Australians are set to partake in this year’s Vinnies CEO Sleepout as they play their part in raising donations to help support those suffering from homelessness.
The initiative will take place on 20 June across Australia in what is its 19th year, with various business leaders to swap their beds for cardboard boxes.
There will be numerous Greek Australians taking part in the event, including business leaders like Paul Nicolaou, Executive Director Business Sydney, Chris Christofi, CEO at Reventon, John Livanas, CEO at State Super SAS Trustee Corporation, and Maria Lykouras, CEO at JBWere Australia.
Nicolaou has raised over $60,000 already on his way to his $70,000 target, while Christofi has helped raised close to $90,000 of his $120,000 goal.
The annual event helps support the work performed by the St Vincent de Paul Society’s homelessness services, an issue which affects more than 122,000 people according to the latest census.
Yolanda Saiz, St Vincent de Paul Society NSW CEO, expressed that the CEO Sleepout is the largest fundraiser they hold each year and that it plays a pivotal role in helping them provide essential services to the people who need them.
“No one should endure homelessness, everyone deserves a home. The impact the event is able to make extends well beyond the night as participants are challenged to use their connections and influence to make a difference in addressing homelessness,” Saiz said.
Donations can be made online at www.ceosleepout.org.au, with all donations over $2 being tax deductible.
