A watershed collaboration set to transform language education. The Wiggles, Australia’s global children’s entertainment icons are joining forces with the Hellenic Studies Foundation to promote Greek language learning among preschool to early primary school-age children.
This ground-breaking initiative, titled ‘Learning Greek with Lucia,’ was officially launched on Friday in Adelaide.
The program promises to be a game-changer, in inspiring future generations of Greek language learners with innovative and engaging content.
“We are thrilled to join forces with The Wiggles to introduce children to the beauty of the Greek language,” said Greg Crafter, the Foundation’s chair.
“Through ‘Learning Greek with Lucia,’ we aim to inspire a lifelong love for language learning and foster a deeper appreciation for Greek culture.”

The Wiggles, famous for educating, entertaining, and enriching the lives of millions of pre-schoolers (and their parents) worldwide, are once again at the forefront of a cultural milestone.
Generations of fans who grew up with The Wiggles now share their love for the group with their children.
Anthony Field, an original Wiggle, expressed excitement about the collaboration.
“We are honoured to be a part of this meaningful initiative,” he said, calling the partnership a “joyous experience.”
He added, “We are excited to contribute to promoting Greek language and culture through our work.”

Harry Patsouris one of the Foundation’s trustees and lead advocate in The Wiggles partnership told Neos Kosmos: ” The Foundation was searching for new ways to engage those young and very young and get them excited about learning Greek language”

He said that an opportunity arose to have students involved so the Foundation “reached out to St George College in Adelaide who jumped at the chance to be involved”.

The content developed by The Wiggles for ‘Learning Greek with Lucia’ is designed to be both entertaining and educational. It includes songs and interactive activities aimed at sparking a love for language exploration in young children.
The Hellenic Studies Foundation, in partnership with The Wiggles, addresses the challenge of maintaining and learning Greek for the fourth generation of Greek Australians.
‘Learning Greek with Lucia’ will be accessible to communities worldwide, providing a valuable resource for families, schools, and language enthusiasts everywhere.
According to a media release by the Foundation, ‘Learning Greek with Lucia’ is set to “revolutionise language learning for young audiences, offering an immersive and interactive experience that celebrates the richness of Greek heritage.”
The South Australian Government has been a strong supporter of this initiative. SA Minister for Infrastructure and Transport, Energy and Mining, Tom Koutsantonis, launched the project at a premiere event last Friday, highlighting the government’s commitment to language education.
A Foundation spokesperson expressed gratitude for the support from the Government of South Australia, under the leadership of Premier Peter Malinauskas.
“At the core of our mission lies the belief that language is the custodian and guardian of culture, tradition, and heritage,” they said.
