The Greek Orthodox Community of South Australia (GOCSA) has announced the opening of entries for the annual Odyssey Festival Art Prize as part of the Odyssey Festival.
The competition invites artists of all ages to showcase their talents and explore themes related to Greek history, language, and culture with up to three original artworks by 11.59pm on Friday, September 13.
All forms of original visual fine art, including digital art, are eligible for submission, except for photography. Artists associated with GOCSA, including staff, Cultural Committee members, and those involved in the administration or judging of the prize, are not eligible to enter.
Entries are free of charge and must adhere to the theme set by the GOCSA Cultural Committee. Submissions should be numbered and unsigned to ensure impartial judging.
Entries will be judged on artistic merit by a panel of three independent arts professionals with no affiliation to GOCSA. The judging will take place in the week leading up to the Odyssey Festival, and the panel’s decisions are final.
All submitted artworks will be exhibited at the Olympic Hall from the opening night of the Odyssey Festival. Artists must ensure their works are available for the duration of the exhibition. While the winning piece becomes the property of GOCSA, other exhibited works may be made available for sale.
The competition features three main award categories:
- First Prize: $1,000
- Second Prize: $600
- Third Prize: $400
The first-place winning artwork will become the property of GOCSA and will be exhibited at their discretion.
How to enter:
- Artists can access entry forms online at www.gocsa.org.au or at the GOCSA office, 262 Franklin Street, Adelaide SA.
- A brief CV outlining the artist’s career must accompany the submission.
- By entering, artists consent to the use of images of their works, as well as their biographical information and/or photograph, by GOCSA and their agents without additional compensation.
