The Greek Maritime Golf Event has unveiled its schedule for their tenth anniversary edition, marking its milestone with numerous events and initiatives for the executives of the Greek and global maritime industry.
The 2024 edition of the premier golf event will take place on 5-8 September at Costa Navarino in Messinia and is expected to gather more than 80 senior maritime executives organised in teams of four.
Golfers will compete at the golf courses of the area, which was awarded as the “World’s Best Golf Venue” at the 2023 World Golf Awards.
The competition will include a shotgun scramble in the morning of Friday, September 6, at the International Olympic Academy Golf Course, and another shotgun scramble in the morning of Saturday, September 7, at The Hills Course.
In addition to the golf, there will be a Welcome Cocktail on Friday (6 September) as well as an Awards Gala the following day, which will feature the awards ceremony for the winners.
The three top teams at the Golf Event will be awarded while the ceremony will also recognise those who achieved the best result in the Longest Drive and Closest to the Pin categories.
Non-golfers will have the opportunity to attend the Golf Clinic, held on Saturday (7 September) at The Hills Course, and become familiar with the basic principles of the sport.
The Greek Maritime Golf Event will notably support for another year the Parents’ Association of Children with Cancer “Floga” through its activities.
There will be a lottery during the awards ceremony wherein participants will have the opportunity to contribute any amount they wish to try win the prizes on offer.
All money raised will be donated to the “Floga” association, which supports children suffering from cancer and their families.
The organisation fights for their better medical, psychological, and social care, shares their fears and anxieties, supports their struggle in every way, and advocates for substantial presence and intervention in matters of medical, psychological, and social care for these children.
The event is held under the auspices of the Greek Ministry of Tourism and the Greek National Tourism Organization.
It is supported by some of the most prominent maritime companies from Greece and Cyprus, as well as major Greek companies, and is an initiative of the recognized Greek PGA golfer, Thanos Karantzias with it organised by Birdie Events.
