The Greek Film Festival is set to make a long-awaited return to Canberra from Friday, October 25 to Monday, 27, offering three days of acclaimed Greek films. Presented by the Greek Festival of Sydney in collaboration with the Hellenic Club of Canberra, the event will showcase a selection of the best Greek cinema as part of the 29th Greek Film Festival Australia lineup.

The festival will kick off at the Palace Electric Cinema with the comedy Listen Who’s Talking by Thodoris Niarchos, setting the tone for an exciting weekend. Saturday will feature the award-winning film Murderess by Eva Nathena, while the closing night on Sunday will screen What If by Christoforos Papakaliatis.

President of the Hellenic Club of Canberra, Andrew Satsias, expressed his enthusiasm for the event, saying, “We are proud to bring the Greek Film Festival to Canberra, showcasing some of the finest Greek films. This collaboration enriches our community’s cultural experience, and we look forward to many more years of partnership.”

Nia Karteris, Chair of the Greek Festival and Greek Film Festival of Sydney, highlighted the festival’s goal of promoting Greek culture beyond New South Wales.

“We are particularly proud to bring Greek cinema to Canberra this year through our collaboration with the Hellenic Club,” she said.

Meanwhile, Harry Danalis, President of the Greek Orthodox Community of NSW, underscored the importance of collaboration between Greek organisations in Australia stressing that “As our communities evolve, it is vital to strengthen our cultural identity through meaningful events like the Greek Film Festival.”
