Team Greece kicked off their 2024 All Nations Cup with a nail-biting 1-1 tie against Albania. It was a game of cat-and-mouse, with both teams chasing after victory but ultimately settling for a stalemate at halftime.
Things heated up in the second half as Greece took some daring shots, including one that nearly rattled the crossbar.
Unfortunately, it was Albania who landed the first punch with only 5 minutes left on the clock. Talk about a close call!
But just when it seemed like the gods were not in Greece’s favor, they pulled off a last-minute head-turner with a corner kick that secured a goal.
The final score may be a tie, but nothing can dampen the team’s spirit and determination.
As Coach Con Tangalakis put it.

“Considering the boys have just come together and it was their first game, I’m very pleased with their effort and determination to play to the end and get at least a point to kick start our campaign. I look forward to the next game next Sunday”
It’s not just the team who’s proud, even the Greek Community VP Michael Karamitos couldn’t help but cheer them on.
“Today we came up against a difficult opponent in Albania and we fought hard to get a 1 all draw at the end and we look forward to our second group phase game next week. I encourage as many people as possible from our Community to come and support our boys who are playing for their country and are very proud and passionate.”
