AGAPI Care were a finalist for the Team Award at the Victoria Disability Sector Awards that took place on Friday October 18.

The award that AGAPI Care were up for celebrates the collective efforts of the team and exemplifies the spirit of collaboration.

It recognises the support they show each other and the dedication to their work, seen by how people motivate each other to achieve more and foster a sense of unity and belonging.

“The dedication and collaborative spirit of all AGAPI Care employees, earned this recognition, a testament to our unwavering commitment to making a positive impact in our community,” AGAPI Care said in a media release sent to Neos Kosmos.

AGAPI Care also shared its appreciation to the National Disability Leadership Organisation for nominating them and its gratitude to its whole team, from management to employees and volunteers, for their efforts and commitment.

The organisation also held their ‘Jewel of the Night’ gala event the week before on Saturday October 12, to celebrate the community they serve and highlight their clients, some of which also gave performances on the night.

President of the AGAPI Care Arthur Evriniadis welcomed attendees at the event, wishing them all an enjoyable night.

He also expressed his appreciation to the notable guests on the night, including, Reverend Father Archimandrite Ierotheos Kourtessis, Reverend Father Konstantinos Apostolellis, Steve Tsalikidis from Windsor Management Insurance Brokers, Ambassador of Greece in Australia Stavros Venizelos and his wife Larisa Tikaidi, Chairperson of the Victorian Multicultural Commission Vivienne Nguyen, Deputy Chairperson of the Victorian Multicultural Commission Bwe Thay, Consul General of Greece in Melbourne Emanuel Kakavelakis, Consul General of Greece in South Australia Dr Alexandra Theodoropoulou, Chairperson of the HACCI Board Fotini Kypraios, President of PRONIA Elpis Korosidis, CEO of PRONIA Sylvia Hadjiantoniou, President of Papaflessas Social Club Stan Dimitrakopoulos and Chief Lilo Maiava from Samoa.

Evriniadis also gave gratitude to the sponsors for their contributions and ongoing support to AGAPI Care.

He called AGAPI Care a big family, and what differs them from other organisations is “that they believe in each other and they believe in the work they do. There are no weak links in the organisation.”

“AGAPI Care aspires to and believes in, that they will leave the world a better place tomorrow than what they found it yesterday,” was the mantra he closed his speech with.

CEO Mary Gakopoulos also welcomed all attendees and acknowledged their commitment and support, and thanked everyone.
