Greek tennis star Stefanos Tsitsipas, seeded No. 10, fought through a challenging match to defeat Argentina’s Francisco Cerundolo 6-7 (1), 6-4, 6-2, securing a spot in the quarter-finals of the Paris Masters at Accor Arena.
Tsitsipas, showing resilience, came back from a set down to ultimately dominate in the third.
This victory marks Tsitsipas’ 19th ATP Masters 1000 quarter-final appearance since 2020—a record unmatched by any other player over this span.
With this win, Tsitsipas remains in contention for a place in the ATP Finals in Turin, needing to reach the Paris final to ensure qualification. He now stands just two wins away from clinching his spot.
Awaiting him in the quarter-finals is either third seed Alexander Zverev from Germany or France’s Arthur Fils, who are set to face off for a spot in the next round.
Earlier in the tournament, Tsitsipas defeated Spanish lucky loser Roberto Carballes Baena (4-6, 6-3, 6-3) and Chilean Alejandro Tabilo (6-3, 6-4).
Cerundolo, ranked No. 29, advanced to face Tsitsipas after notable wins over French qualifier Quentin Halys (7-6 (5), 6-3) and sixth seed Andrey Rublev of Russia (7-6 (6), 7-6 (5)).
