Nick Reece has been elected Melbourne’s lord mayor beating Greens candidate Roxane Ingleton to see him stay in office.

Reece, who says he is “Greek at heart”, married to a Greek, was running for incumbent after he was sworn in as lord mayor in June following the resignation of Sally Capp.

Incumbent councillor Roshena Campbell is his running mate for deputy mayor.

Liberal candidate Mariam Riza finished third, AFL great Anthony Koutoufides was a chance to win before Reece pulled ahead – he finished fourth, while Arron Wood was fifth.

Neos Kosmos spoke to Reece in September about his plans for the city, which focus on safety, culture and reviving the city’s culture and nightlife.

He also plans to lead the “biggest delegation” of business and cultural leaders to Greece.

Four incumbents were elected to serve as councillors alongside Reece and Campbell: Kevin Louey (Team Reece), Olivia Ball (Greens), Davydd Griffiths (Labor for Melbourne) and Phillip Le Liu (Team Wood).
