Oakleigh Grammar’s Year 7 students have made a meaningful difference in the Melbourne community through a hands-on food truck initiative in partnership with Five Loaves, as part of the school’s Service as Action program.

Approximately 60 students, supported by their teachers, prepared and cooked wholesome meals at school, while five students and their families volunteered to serve the meals to individuals experiencing homelessness in Melbourne’s CBD.

“Oakleigh Grammar’s core values of Humility, Aspiration, Respect, and Kindness were brought to life through this initiative,” a school representative told Neos Kosmos.

“We aim to nurture students who are not only academically strong but also socially conscious and compassionate.”

The menu included lamb and vegetable stew, Greek salad, chicken and vegetable pasta bake, and mini muffins, crafted from fresh ingredients and donations from generous local businesses.

The program offered students a chance to develop practical skills while fostering empathy and teamwork.

By working alongside Five Loaves, they provided not only nutritious meals but also a sense of care and support to those in need.
