Summer has arrived and with it comes a sense of excitement for Heidelberg United. While the rest of us are filling our days with typical summer activities like beach trips and lazy sunbathing, the club has its sights set on something far more significant. This summer marks a new era for Heidelberg United, one where changes extend beyond just the rosters. As construction for a new canteen and boutique kicks into high gear, buzz is building around the club. And rightfully so, because this upcoming addition will not only showcase all of the team’s official products but also bring the club one step closer to shaping its own future. It looks like Alexandros is gearing up for greatness.
As the president of the club, Steve Tsalikidis explained to us that the construction of the new canteen is only the beginning of a series of projects that will significantly alter the appearance of the Olympic Park.
“The construction of the new canteen and boutique is just the first phase of the projects we hope to complete. The next step will be the building of a new grandstand, a massive undertaking for which we will seek assistance and resources from the council.”
Where did the money for the construction of the new canteen and the boutique come from?
“This project has been fully funded by the club, with the exception of $15,000 donated directly by my family. It is our gift to future athletes and fans of the team. The work being done in the village is the legacy we want to leave behind for future generations.”
Bill Pargas, member of the board, also expressed his satisfaction and enthusiasm for the development of the projects.
“What an absolute superb achievement by the committee, volunteers and sponsors of this project. This is one of many projects that our current board has initiated and will complete. With the start of the junior club rooms beginning this month the committee will be responsible of over 10 million dollars of improvements made to the village during its tenure. There are more projects in the system which will make the village one of the best facilities for local football in the areaI for one am deeply proud to be part of this board and am in awe of the impact our board has made to football, community and the Heidelberg United FC brand.”
In other “black and yellow” news, there is no shortage of roster changes for John Anastasiadis’ team in the 2025 season, as the club’s management has announced the acquisition of two notable football players. Max Bisseto, a talented winger known for his speed and one-on-one ability, and Ryan Lethlean, a former player for the NPL teams Brisbane Roar and Melbourne Victory.
