Maria Sakkari has defeated Linda Noskova in straight sets to advance to the Round of 16 at the Adelaide International tournament.

It was a dominant display from the Greek who won 6-3, 6-3.

She hit seven aces with an 82 per cent win rate on her first serve.

The world No.32 also had her opponent on break point seven times in the match, breaking her three times.

Sakkari is in the main card as a lucky loser after she lost her second qualifier match to Peyton Stearns a few days ago.

“We decided to play the qualifiers because we felt it was the best move, especially after my injury. I haven’t had many matches recently, so it felt like the right decision before the Australian Open. With every match, I feel a little better, and honestly, I feel like a lucky, lucky loser,” she said.
