Panayiotis Ppiros has been elected as the new President of the Greek Orthodox Community of South Australia, following recent elections.
According to reports, the 15 members of the newly elected Board convened on Tuesday for their first meeting to formally establish their positions.
Ppiros confirmed the news to Neos Kosmos and stated that a detailed announcement will follow within the next 24 hours.
As our newspaper previously reported the “Independent, Progressive Community” group emerged victorious in the election for the new Board of Directors of the Greek Orthodox Community of South Australia. This group secured 11 out of the 15 seats available.
The leader of the group, Panagiotis Gonis, was also elected to the new Board.

In a statement to Neos Kosmos Ppiros said that: “It was a very difficult election, with 600 members voting—the largest number of voters in many years for our community elections. Our ‘Independent, Progressive Community’ group won 11 out of 15 positions on the Board, which we consider to be a very good result, especially considering the extremely challenging circumstances we faced.
We sincerely thank everyone who honored us with their vote and chose our party to lead the historic Adelaide Community forward. We also thank all the members for their participation in the elections and those who contributed to their smooth execution.
Now, it will require hard work from all of us to bring unity to the community, recover the community’s economy, and ensure the democratic operation and protection of our organisation’s assets.
I wish all elected members strength and success in the challenging work ahead.
Panayiotis Ppiros.”
