It has not been a kind tournament for Greeks this year at the Australian Open with the sixth day seeing two more Hellenic players sent home packing.
Greece’s Petros Tsitsipas and Greek Australian Matthew Christopher Romios both lost in straight sets in their respective doubles matches.
Romios, teaming with fellow Aussie Marc Polmans lost their second-round matchup against the sixth seed team of Henry Patten and Harri Heliövaara 7(7)-6(2), 6,3.

Meanwhile Tsitsipas, who was teaming up with Damir Džumhur, was defeated comfortably by first seed duo Mate Pavić and Marcelo Arévalo 6-2, 6-2.
They never looked likely to win, with the word No.1 team proving too strong, often pushing up close to the net not allowing Tsitsipas and Džumhur enough time to react.

Stefanos Tsitsipas also appeared courtside briefly to watch and cheer on his brother.
Despite Petros and Romios not being as popular or well known as Stefanos, Thanasi Kokkinakis, Nick Kyrgios or Maria Sakkari, there was still some Greek fans who showed up to support.

At one point in Romios’s match one crowd member yelled “hit the ball harder ‘re’.”
Meanwhile in Tsitsipas’s game few fans were decked out in blue and white.

Renee and Reine, two young Greek Aussies were there to watch Tsitsipas and while they admitted that they’re bigger fans of Stefanos, they still wanted to support a fellow Greek.
