Nick Kyrgios has once again stirred controversy on social media, this time targeting veteran sports reporter Tony Jones over his recent comments about Novak Djokovic.
In a video posted to his Facebook story earlier today, Kyrgios aimed sharp criticism at Jones, zooming in on the Wide World of Sports broadcast booth at Melbourne Park, where Jones and other Nine Network reporters were on air.
“F—. Does this guy still have a f—ing job?” Kyrgios can be heard saying in the video. “It is putrid stuff. Tony Jones, you absolute flop.” The footage also features Kyrgios referring to Jones by his well-known nickname, “Chompers,” while laughter can be heard in the background.
This isn’t the first time Kyrgios has defended Novak Djokovic publicly. On his Instagram story the previous day, Kyrgios called Jones a “clown,” reinforcing his support for the former world No. 1.
Kyrgios and Djokovic share a strong camaraderie, having teamed up in the men’s doubles competition at the Brisbane International and regularly exchanging praise off the court.
Jones has not yet commented on Kyrgios’ remarks. However, the exchange has drawn widespread attention, fueling ongoing debates about Kyrgios’ fiery personality and his penchant for speaking out.
