The Hellenic Initiative (THI) Australia celebrates its 10th anniversary this year and with that they’ll be hosting an anniversary gala dinner.

The event will be celebrating a decade of diaspora generosity towards Greece in its most challenging times on Saturday March 22, at Fullerton Hotel in Sydney.

Some of the notable guests who will attend include representatives of the Hellenic Republic, members of Australia’s Federal and State Parliaments and religious and community leaders.

The evening looks to unite THI’s supporters from across Australia to reflect on a decade of achievements and support for Greece.

THI Australia also announced that at the event, “one of the nation’s proudest Greek-Australians” who has been integral to their vision will be recognised.

There will also be entertainment and a chance to dance with a musical performance by Greek artist Kostas Karafotis.

“It will be more than a celebration – it will be a unique opportunity to showcase the extraordinary generosity and resilience of the Hellenic diaspora, harnessed by THI during one of Greece’s most challenging periods,” President of THI Australia Nick Pappas said in a media release.

“THI Australia’s impact over the past decade has been profound. This milestone celebration is a testament to the enduring partnerships that continue to make a meaningful difference in Greece.”

Some of the organisation’s work include partnering with Doctors of the World Greece to provide essential health care services to over 14,000 people including more than 26,500 health care visits to the to the Open Polyclinic in Athens within just four years.

Another initiative has been a nine-year collaboration with Boroume Saving Food Saving Lives, to facilitate the collection of more than 1,000 tonnes of fresh produce from farmers markets in Athens and Thessaloniki, reducing food insecurity for families.
