The two Double-headed eagles of Greek football are all set for a season-defining outing with the outcome likely to have a huge impact on either side’s premiership chances.

PAOK hosts AEK at “Toumba” Stadium on Monday morning (AEDT) in the Greek Super League’s 21st round, and with the regular season approaching its end, three points could prove crucial for both teams.

The two outfits are both behind in the title race, with PAOK in the worse position as they currently sit seven points away from first-placed Olympiacos.

As such, the Thessaloniki giants desperately need a win to ensure they do not fall any further behind with the current gap already extremely big at this point of the season.

Enosi sits in a slightly better position, only four points away from top spot, though a loss could see them fall behind to seven which could prove to be too great to overturn.

The winner could very well use the win as a springboard late to score some important victories, especially since each team still has to play Olympiacos at home (a game which could offer each club a chance to truly get right back into contention for the title).

The Piraeus giants will have to be careful when they travel away to face Levadiakos, needing to win so that their current four-point lead in first is not reduced.

Panathinaikos will be hoping their fellow title rivals do somehow drop points, though their first concern will be securing a triumph over OFI at the Olympic Stadium in the round opener on Sunday morning.

Panserraikos takes on Volos at home in a huge clash that could aid either club’s hopes of finishing in the fifth-eighth play-offs spots.

Aris goes on the road to challenge Kallithea on Monday morning with three points being a must, especially given that a loss for PAOK could keep the “yellow-blacks” in the mix to potentially sneak into the top four.

Panetolikos battles Atromitos at home in a well-balanced affair between eight and ninth, with the Peristeriotes particularly fighting to claim the Canaries’ spot in the top eight.

Asteras Tripolis, the league’s form team currently, is looking to extend Lamia’s woes when they play them at home as they seek their eighth straight victory in all competitions.

The Fthiotida side must find a way to win to kickstart their season, with the bottom-placed club presently looking destined for relegation.
