The new season finally kicked off last week with some high-quality football matches. On pitches all over Victoria, we had the chance to witness some exceptional football spectacles.

The football magic continues this week with matches that grab the attention of fans and excite the spirits of those who love Victorian football.

The action will begin on Friday night with two particularly interesting games.

At 7.30 pm at Green Gully Reserve, the local Green Gully will host the champions, Oakleigh Cannons.

Chris Taylor’s team is looking to put the poor start of last week against the strong Avondale behind them, overcoming a very difficult away ground and securing the three points of victory.

The Cannons were not bad against the Italo Australians. On the contrary. They showed many positive signs. They played flowing football and could have even avoided defeat if their players were a bit more focused on their defensive duties.

Green Gully also started the season with a defeat, failing to get anything good from their trip to Dandenong Thunder’s home ground. So, quite naturally, they are expected to give their all to get the first three points of the season.

It will be a difficult, tough match that is right up the champions’ alley. With a bit of luck, plenty of concentration, and some reasonable attacking efficiency, the Greek Australian team has a very good chance of returning to Oakleigh with the three points of victory.

At the same time, at the Heidelberg United ground, John Anastasiadis’ “yellow-blacks” will host the newly promoted Melbourne Victory NPL.

Alexandros started the new season with a defeat. They played well against the Knights but failed to get anything good from the match. The team’s weakness was identified in their defensive solidity. A phenomenon that the team’s coaching staff wants to eliminate from the upcoming match against Victory.

Port Melbourne face a daunting task when they travel to Avondale on Saturday. Avondale are a strong and physical side, and they will be looking to build on their impressive opening day victory against the Cannons.

The Sharks will need to be at their best to compete with Avondale. They will need to be disciplined in their defensive shape, and be clinical in their attacking play. They will also need to be wary of Avondale’s aerial threat, particularly from set-pieces.

This will be a tough test for Port Melbourne, but they have the quality to cause an upset. If they can play to their strengths and limit their mistakes, they have a chance of securing a positive result.

The action concludes on Monday when Knights host South Melbourne Hellas at their home ground. Both teams will be looking to build on their opening day performances and secure a crucial victory.

Knights will be looking to maintain their momentum after their impressive win over Alexandros. They will be a tough opponent for Hellas, and they will be looking to impose their physicality and aggression on the game.

This will be a closely contested affair, with both teams eager to secure a crucial victory. The result of this match will have a significant impact on the early season standings.

Overall, this weekend promises to be a thrilling one for the NPL fans across Victoria. With so many exciting matches on the cards, there is something for everyone to enjoy.
