Michael Chiklis has joined Marisa Tomei, Ving Rhames and Liam Neeson for The Mongoose, a new action film that is now filming in Melbourne.
The project stars Taken star Neeson as Ryan “Fang” Flanagan, a war hero accused of a crime he didn’t commit and with nothing to lose, leads police on a televised cross-country car chase, helped by members of his former Special Forces Army battalion, with the public cheering him on.
The supporting cast includes a host of local Aussie actors.
Production will be based out of Footscray’s Melbourne Screen Hub, with Victorian locations to double for Kentucky, Arkansas, and the Gulf of Mexico in Texas.
Chiklis plays Pope, the violent and reckless head of the Texas Highway Patrol who is convinced of Fang’s guilt.
He is best known for his role as LA Police Department detective Vic Mackey on TV series The Shield, which won him an Emmy.
Chiklis is also known for his role as The Thing in the Marvel Fantastic Four films of the mid-2000s.
His father is a second-generation Greek American (his roots from Lesbos), and his mother, Katherine (née Vousboukis) is of Greek and Irish descent.
