Well-known funeral director Andreas Tziotzis fell victim to a shocking home invasion in the early hours of the morning, as thieves broke into his Clayton residence while he, his wife, and mother-in-law were asleep.
Tziotzis, the director of ‘Pan Orthodox Funerals’, told Neos Kosmos that he was left stunned by the incident. Security cameras at his home captured two masked intruders, armed with large knives, entering the property through the front door.
Tziotzis had briefly stepped outside for a cigarette and, upon returning, inadvertently left the front door unlocked—allowing the intruders to walk in, grab valuables, take his car keys, and flee the scene.
“Despite the misfortune, we were lucky,” he said. “Had I confronted them, no one knows how things could have turned out.”
The burglars stole more than $5,000 in cash, Tziotzis’s wallet containing his driver’s licence and five credit cards, and his company-branded vehicle bearing the name ‘ Pan Orthodox Funerals’.
Shortly after the break-in, the perpetrators stopped at a petrol station, where they used one of Tziotzis’s stolen credit cards to refuel the stolen car. Security footage from the service station revealed that four individuals were inside the vehicle.
Tziotzis remains hopeful that the culprits will be caught soon. “It’s terrifying to think that armed intruders can enter your home while you sleep,” he said.
