PRONIA CEO Sylvia Hadjiantoniou has reinforced a message of support and empowerment among women in line with this year’s International Women’s Day.

Hadjiantoniou spoke at the Hellenic Australian Chamber of Commerce and Industry’s International Women’s Day (IWD) event, where she reinforced the “empowerment” message.

She built on that further in PRONIA’s own separate IWD celebration, saying to the team:

“We often underestimate the impact we have – at home, at work, and in our communities. But today, I want every woman in this room to remember: ‘Lean forward and believe in yourself’.”

The PRONIA CEO stressed that women play a vital role in shaping families, building stronger communities and leading transformative change and that it is something to be very proud of.

PRONIA and its team has worked vigorously since 1972 to aid women in building new lives, advocating for safety, and ensuring individuals can live independently at home, serving particularly as a pillar of support for Greek Australians.

Hadjiantoniou, who has spent her career fighting for women’s rights, social justice and community empowerment, highlighted that helping women requires action e.g. providing mentorship, opportunity and making every woman feel safe and supported.

She expressed the significance of the efforts of women past who navigated hardships and broke barriers to help create a brighter future for their families and communities.

“We stand on the shoulders of the great women who came before us – other mothers, our grandmothers, sisters, mentors and the trailblazers who built the foundations for us to dream bigger and reach further,” Hadjiantoniou said.

“Together we create lasting change – each of us contributing our unique strengths to a shared vision of a more inclusive and equitable future.”.
