The Hellenic Australian Chamber of Commerce and Industry National Federation (HACCI NF) hosted its first online event, Bridging Markets: Greece-Australia Trade Insights, last month. It drew over 100 participants from both nations.
Organised with the Greek Exporters Association (SEVE) and industry leaders KLEEMANN Hellas SA and ALUMIL, the event highlighted trade opportunities and challenges.
Dr. Elena Limnios, Chair of HACCI NF emphasised the event’s significance, “This marks a pivotal moment for Greek-Australian business collaboration, laying the foundation for long-term trade and investment growth.”
The webinar, part of HACCI NF’s collaboration with SEVE and key Greek Chambers of Commerce, aimed to foster B2B connections, knowledge exchange, and potential trade delegations. SEVE’s Executive Vice-President, Panayiotis Hassapis, noted that despite low bilateral trade, “Greece presents significant opportunities in real estate, industrial equipment, and high-quality chemical imports”.
Industry insights: Success and challenges
KLEEMANN, a leading mobility solutions manufacturer, successfully transitioned from a B2B to a B2C model, securing 8 per cent of the Australian market. ALUMIL, an aluminium systems leader, faced logistical and cultural challenges before opting for direct exports to Australia. Their experiences underscored both opportunities and obstacles in expanding into foreign markets.
Discussions also covered global trade trends, market entry strategies, and joint venture prospects, reinforcing HACCI NF’s role in driving economic engagement between Greece and Australia.
