May has marked one final milestone for comedian Anthony Locascio’s show ‘Pappou’, with its sold-out Enmore Theatre performance serving as the backdrop for a special hour-long video now immortalised in the digital space.
The full show of Locascio’s tribute special to his pappou was posted on the comedian’s YouTube account on May 1, incorporating the performance at Sydney’s iconic Enmore Theatre in January this year.
The comedian told Neos Kosmos that he had planned to capture the footage of the Enmore performance and use that for a full show upload.
“The show was so important to me and so beloved by Greeks worldwide that I always considered it important to film the show and have it available for free for people to enjoy,” Locascio said.
“Also, it has been three years since I posted new content online so it was time!”
He remarked on his pleasure the show can now be accessed by everyone, particularly those that did not have the chance to catch it in person.
“I am very happy that anyone who missed seeing the show live will get to experience it and hear my pappou’s (and also my) story,” Locascio said.
“Pappou can watch it whenever he wants as he taught himself YouTube in the last few years. It is also a nice bow on the show and allows me to focus on the next one.”

The show holds a special place in the comedian’s heart, having spoken beforehand on his ambition to one day perform at Enmore.
“It is an absolute dream come true,” he said.
“For any performer born and bred in Sydney it is the pinnacle and I am so proud to have done the show there. To have it on film truly commemorates the show and also the night, which was so special for me and my family. It also adds an extra layer of legitimacy to me as a comic.”
Locascio concluded by noting:
“It is really important to refresh the perspectives we have of our ethnicity and culture as Greek Australians through the generations”.
“I try to embody this as much as I can – representing the Greek/Italian communities of Australia but also representing modern stand-up comedy. This special has allowed me to do that in the best way so far.”
