What would you do if the phone rang and you heard your child’s voice on the other end of the line – only it wasn’t them?
How would you react if an email from your bank was so convincing that even they couldn’t tell it apart?
In an era where artificial intelligence creates not only convenience but also dangers, AHEPA Victoria is organising a lecture for those who want to secure their digital lives before it is too late.
The lecture, titled “Click Wisely: Protecting Your Digital Life in the Age of AI Fraud and Cyber Threats”, will take place on Sunday 29 June at 3pm on the mezzanine floor of the Greek Centre.
The speaker will be Dr Dimitrios Salampasis, Associate Professor of Emerging Technologies and FinTech at Swinburne University – an internationally recognised expert who knows firsthand the new tricks of cybercriminals.
During the presentation, Dr Salampasis will analyse phenomena such as voice cloning, deepfakes and automated phishing.
He will also offer useful tips on online safety, digital self-defence techniques adapted to all ages, guidelines for creating a safer digital environment for children, tools for recognizing and addressing cyberbullying, as well as a substantive discussion around the ethical issues of artificial intelligence and the importance of critical thinking in the digital world.
Places are limited and reservations can be made through trybooking.com/DBJGI.
People interested can also contact Phillip Tourkakis at 0410 616 785, or Ange Kenos at 0408 999 003.
