It was a night of flowers, song and overflowing joy as Greek singer Panos Kalidis lit up Kinisi at Trak in Melbourne over the weekend, part of his latest Australian tour that also took him to Sydney and Perth.
The popular performer delivered an evening of classic hits and new sounds that brought the Greek diaspora together in celebration. The atmosphere reached a peak with young audiences leading the way, singing along, dancing and filling the venue with energy until late into the night.
“Australia feels like the first time”
Speaking about the tour, Kalidis said that every overseas performance carries a special weight.
“Every time I come to Australia it feels like the very first time,” he said.
“The Greeks here embrace us with such enthusiasm. They make us feel incredible. I always try to add something new, but the recipe remains the same: our goal is for people to have fun, to sing and dance together. It’s a day of joy filled with kefi, music and celebration.”
Kalidis stressed the unique bond he feels with audiences abroad compared to concerts in Greece.
“The diaspora participate with such passion. They show their joy in a way that sweeps me along and fills me with strength,” he told Neos Kosmos, pointing to the unmatched energy he receives from Greek-Australians.
Alongside his tour, Kalidis is preparing for the release of a new single. He revealed that he has ten songs ready and will soon choose the track that marks the next chapter in his career, keeping his fans in eager anticipation.
