News of Brighton Grammar student James Tsindos’ passing have deeply saddened the Greek and Cypriot communities of Melbourne. Grief extended the borders of Melbourne as news of the young boy’s death made the local press in Cyprus.
The Year 12 student was taken to hospital on 27 May following a sudden anaphylactic reaction, and passed away on 1 June leaving his family and friends in shock.
The funeral of the talented 17-year-old student is set to take place at 11am on Monday, 21 June, at Panagia Kamariani in Red Hill.
The young boy was known to his classmates for his advanced piano playing and creativity with several clips on YouTube showing the budding pianist practicing his art.
His father Harry Tsindos, former president of the Cypriot Community of Melbourne, told Neos Kosmos that he could not comprehend how his angel had died.
“I am still waiting for him to enter our room to say ‘good morning’,” his father said.
“And at the same time, we are preparing for his burial,” he said, adding that the mother of the young boy Venetia and his sisters, Kristina Elpida and Georgia are inconsolable.

“We are all devastated, and we are looking for answers,” he said.
His grandfather, famous Greek chef Jim Tsindos, expressed his grief on Facebook.
He wrote: “The clouds will open and the angels will fly | To welcome their king who is in the sky | On the way to eternity where the greats lie.”
“There are no words to describe my pain,” he told Neos Kosmos.
The exact cause of death has not yet been known; an investigation is underway and a post-mortem examination.
“It may be three weeks before we know the cause,” Mr Tsindos said, adding that the family has received great support from the Greek and Cypriot communities as well as Brighton Grammar. “This gives us solace and comfort,” he said.
