GLYKERIA & MIHALIS HATZIGIANNIS
A short introduction cannot pay justice to these iconic singers, whose followers extend beyond Greek borders.
With a career spanning more than 30 years and several multi-platinum releases, Glykeria is considered a queen of laiko.
Her first visit Down Under was during her peak years of fame, in 1985, an experience that she has described as convincing her to return time and time again.
With her on stage for this upcoming tour will be Mihalis Hatzigiannis, an artist who has left a footprint in the field of pop, contemporary laiko and entechno music, arguably from the very beginnings of his trajectory, when he released his album Parakseni Yiorti.
So far, Hatzigiannis’ record sales have surpassed 3 million copies and has even been chosen to perform for events like the opening and closing ceremony of the Olympic Games in Athens 2004.
* Glykeria and Mihalis Hatzigiannis will give two shows at Sydney’s Bellevue Venue on Friday 20 and Saturday 21 September, followed by a show at the Melbourne Pavillion on Saturday 28 September.
